Spring Organizing Advancement Training

We hope this program serves as a tool available to students to continue to build experiences and deepen their understanding of change-making during the spring semester. It is a 6 week organizing advancement program where we will equip returning student fellows with organizing tools to engage students on campus through class talks, tabling, canvassing, gatherings, and other engagement tactics in order to develop campus hubs. We will also focus on building organizing plans, different organizing strategies, and how to track progress–laying the groundwork for campaign roll-outs in the summer and fall. 

In 2024, the main thing students will be focusing on is base-building and developing campus hubs. 

Intergenerational Engagement:

Our intergenerational component is a vital component of SOS. This initiative aims to bridge generational gaps, recognizing the valuable insights and experiences each cohort brings to the table. Through targeted activities, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative projects, participants engage in a dynamic intergenerational dialogue, fostering mutual understanding and empowering a collective movement for positive change. This portion of the program not only enriches the learning experience but also ensures the preservation and transmission of wisdom across generations within the community.

Presence on Campuses:

Our campus outreach lays the foundation for building sustainable student-led movements. Our approach involves strategic engagement with campuses, facilitating campus hubs where students can streamline communication and organizing efforts both on their own campuses and between campuses connected to SOS, supporting and recruiting student organizers, and building nuanced relationships with faculty and administrators. The goal is to create a supportive environment for retaining students who are passionate about social justice and empowering existing student movements. By providing resources, mentorship, and a platform for advocacy, we aim to strengthen the presence of our organization on campuses and contribute to the growth and impact of student-led movements.
